Aitor Molina: The Creative Method
Épisode de De A à Z par nicolas dazet · 3 septembre 2026 · 2 h 20 min
Creative director, designer, photographer, DJ and music curator, Aitor Molina has spent his career moving between different creative worlds without ever really choosing one over the others.
In this episode, we talk about how his engineering background shaped a very particular approach to creativity — one based on method, research and problem solving rather than taste alone — and why he believes creativity inevitably comes with loneliness and insecurity.
Aitor looks back at his years with Pukas, a defining period where he was given the freedom to experiment, learn from some of the world’s best surfboard shapers and develop his own creative language.
We also dive deep into music: from his early years collecting records and DJing to opening the main stage at Sónar, touring Europe, and eventually stepping away from the DJ circuit. We talk about music curation, the importance of context and sound systems, and why he believes we’ve become better at consuming music than actually listening to it.
Highlights:
— How engineering taught him to approach creativity as problem solving
— Why creativity and leadership share loneliness and insecurity
— The Pukas years and the freedom of being given a blank canvas
— What surfboard shapers taught him about design
— Opening Sónar and his years touring as a DJ
— Why loving music matters more than being a DJ
— Vinyl, record collecting and the art of music curation
— Why we consume music instead of listening to it
— Building a creative career between method and instinct
