Séminaire - Gerhard Rempe : Entanglement, quo vadis?
Résumé
Entanglement is a genuine quantum physical phenomenon that is expected to fully unfold in systems composed of multiple qubits. However, creating customised multi-qubit entanglement on demand and exploring its application potential is a formidable challenge. Using individual atoms in an optical cavity as a source of single photons, we have synthesised a plethora of almost arbitrary entanglement topologies described by graphs. These open the door to a multitude of novel applications such as quantum error correction in photonic quantum computation and quantum communication with tolerance against omnipresent photon loss.
Gerhard Rempe
Gerhard Rempe is a German physicist, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Munich. He has performed pioneering experiments in atomic and molecular physics, quantum optics and quantum information processing.
