Rusanda Panfili and Johannes Winkler, composers of Perla

Épisode de Interlude avec Music and Cinema Marseille par Music Cinema Marseille · 21 avril 2026 · 36 min

Two composers, one shared score, and a film that demanded its own sonic world from the very first frame. In this episode of Interlude, the podcast series of the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille, we sat down with composers Rusanda Panfili and Johannes Winkler, the duo behind the score of Perla, directed by Alexandra Makarová.

Presented in the official feature film competition of the 27th edition of the MCM, Perla is set in 1981, between Vienna and communist Czechoslovakia.

In this conversation, Rusanda and Johannes reflect on the making of a score rooted in a specific historical world, on the challenge of evoking 1981 without slipping into pastiche, and on what it means to compose with four hands.
